The Signal Culture Modular Apps gives you access to custom professional video and new media software applications for producing real-time experimental media artworks. Free apps or included in Modular App Bundle: Input Amplifier : A free application that routes multiple live or prerecorded video streams to any Syphon/Spout-integrated application, serving as the central hub for the Signal Culture Modular Apps suite. Syphon/Spout Recorder : A free recording tool for any Syphon/Spout-integrated software, allowing users to capture video streams seamlessly. Frame Buffer : Stores and repeats frames on up to three keyed layers of video, enabling feedback and keyclip compositing. Users can set the number of repeated frames from one to as many as their computer's memory allows. Maelstrom : Provides two levels of multi-directional feedback using stacked keying and frame difference processing, allowing users to manipulate video through updated X, Y, Z, and rotation controls. SSSScan : Utilizes generative or live video gradients to determine the shape and movement of a buffered slitscan, featuring variable speed and resolution controls and real-time gradient selection. Re:Trace : Redraws live or recorded video onto an image plane composed of geometries such as points, lines, and polygons, which can be manipulated in 3D space. V-Mass : Allows mapping of video onto geometric primitives or imported 3D models, with support for short animations like walk cycles and generative fractal bump mapping. Interstream : Enables real-time datamoshing of movies or live cameras, featuring multi-directional, timed blooming, and perpetual moshing without the need to reset blooms. SC Video Mixer : Uses Syphon and Spout protocols to mix between up to four Signal Culture apps or any software packages that use these protocols, offering crossfades, luma key or chroma key wipes, and generative wipes using user videos as masks. Newer apps that are not included in the Modular Apps Bundle Weaver : Interleaves two video textures through swappable dynamic luminance displacement maps in real-time, creating a "texture weaving" aesthetic reminiscent of GAN image processing. PXLMSH : Features a unique pixel-sorting engine that samples pixels along a key edge and moves them across the video in real-time, with additional features like texture displacement, texture swapping, and pixel squish compositing.
